Mrs. Carrie Howe familiarly known as “Kittie Carr” died at the home of her brother in this village, Saturday Man. 3, at 2 a.m., after an illness of but two days, of acute pneumonia. Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday at 9 a.m. conducted by Rev. W. D. Ogg, of whose church she was a member and burial was made in Keene. Carrie Carr was born in Alexandria N. Y. Feb. 10, 1859 and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Washington Carr. When a small child she came with her parents to Michigan and located in Keene township where they resided for a few years, when they moved to Lowell. For several years Miss Carr was a clerk in the dry goods store of E. R. Collar and made many warm friends among the people she dealt with in that capacity. Her mother died October 1, 1898 and June 4, 1899 her father also was taken. August 12, 1903 she married Wm. Howe, a resident of Clinton county, and they resided at that place until the death of her husband, November 22, 1908. Mrs. Howe had been in poor health for two or three years but had been much better recently and her sudden death was a great surprise and shock to her friends. She leaves one brother Eugene Carr of this village, beside many other relatives and friends. Messrs. Nel and Fred Carr, of North Dakota, uncle and cousin of deceased, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Howe and Mr. and Mrs. Will Howe of Eagle, Mesdames Schultze and Anthony Norm of Grand Rapids and Miss Aria Cheeseman of Toledo, Ohio, were in attendance at the funeral of Mrs. Carrie Howe.
