Howe who died Monday was born January 21, 1857, on the farm. He graduated in Ionia in 1878. Four years ago he was taken with diabetes and two years later with heart troubles. He went to Alma and was there four weeks for treatment. ------------ Ernest C. Howe died at his home in Otisco a few miles south of the city Monday morning at 5 o’clock, aged 40 years. He had always lived on the farm with his mother since the death of his father, until three years ago when they purchased a house and lot in the city and resided here for a short time, but becoming tired of city life went back to the farm again. For the past year he has been ailing and wasted away under disease from a stout robust man to a mere shadow of his former self. A.L. Benedict and Mr. Peterson were caring for him when he died. He was unconscious to the last and passed away quietly. Ernest, who never married, had many friends. The funeral service was held yesterday afternoon at the house, Rev. O.J. Golden officiating. A number of the order of the K. of P. were in attendance. The interment was beside those of his father in Otisco cemetery. A. L. Benedict and wife, who have recently arrived from North Carolina will remain with Mrs. Howe and carry on the farm.
