Howe, 86, longtime Palo resident, died Saturday morning at Ionia Manor. She was born April 5, 1898, in Lowell, the daughter of Claude and Maude Harris Campbell. She was graduated from Lowell High School and attended Central Michigan University. She taught rural schools in Kent and Ionia Counties and, for a short time, at Palo. She was married to Robert D. Howe in July 1921 and they made their home in Palo during most of their married life. He died in November 1956. She attended Palo Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons, Robert of DeWitt and Gordon of Palo; eight grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and one sister in law, Dorothy How of Mesa, Ariz. One great grandson preceded her in death. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. from the Leddick Funeral Home in Ionia, with the Rev. Kenneth Harger of Shiloh Community Church officiating. Burial will be in Palo Cemetery. The family will be at Leddick Funeral Home Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. ---- Funeral services for Vesta L. Howe of Palo, who died Saturday, were held Tuesday at 1 p.m. from the Leddick Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Harger of the Shiloh Community Church officiating. Burial was in Palo Cemetery. Bearers were grandsons, Duane Hasse, Gene Wireman, George Gregg, Alan Howe, Patrick Kelley and Gordon D. Howe. Following graveside services a luncheon was held for family and friends at the home of a son, Gordon Howe, of Palo.
