Irene was born on March 13, 1935 in Bel Air Maryland, the daughter of Earl and Mary (Johnson) Daugherty. In earlier years Irene had worked at Wolverine World Wide in Rockford. She served as a foster grandma for Belding Area Schools and as a senior companion for the Ionia County Commission on Aging. She enjoyed bird watching. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Irene is loved and survived by her children; Marlin “Rick” and Deb Howe of Greenville, Kimberly and Don Elenbaas of Rockford, her grandchildren; Marlin “Marty” and Roshelle Howe, Kevin and Megan Howe, Anthony and Nicole Howe, her great grandchildren; Trinity, Trevor, Logan and Trenton, a special niece; Eleanor Smith of Bel Air Maryland, her sisters; Nancy Woods or Arkansas and Shirley Blevins of Maryland, several nieces and nephews. Irene was preceded by her parents, six brothers; Robert, Earl, John, Kenneth, Madison, Curtis and two sisters; Helen and Ida. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding with Pastor Ken Martin officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association, Spectrum Hospice or the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
