The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Tuesday, February 11, 1941

Miss Phebe A. I. Howell, former Ionia woman, died suddenly at her apartment in 
Washington, D.C. Sunday.  She was 87 years old at the time of her death.  Her 
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Royal Howell, were early settlers in Ionia township.  
The body will arrive in Ionia Wednesday at 7:35 p.m. and will be taken to the 
Stone funeral home.  Interment will be held at Highland Park cemetery.  There 
will be no funeral service in Ionia.
