The Ionia Standard, Friday, January 22, 1892

Mrs. Howell, widow of Royal Howell, formerly of Easton, died at Pontiac on 
Saturday, after a five days’ illness of la grippe.  The remains were received 
here at noon Monday, and the funeral took place at the Disciples’ church, at 
10 a.m. Tuesday.  Mrs. Howell has made her home with her daughter Phebe, for 
several years.  Miss Howell accepted an appointment in the Pontiac school last 
fall, since which time she and her mother have made their home in that city.
