The Ionia Daily Standard, Wednesday, February 27, 1901

Susan, beloved wife of James Howitt, died this morning, at the home in Ionia 
township, northeast of city.  She was aged 50 years.  Funeral from the late 
home on Saturday morning at 10 o’clock.  Interment in Highland Park.

Subsequent Publication:  Tuesday, March 5, 1901

We desire to express our sincere thanks to the relatives and friends that so 
kindly assisted us in our recent bereavement, and especially to the U.P.S.C.E. 
of the Church of Christ, and also to Isabella Down and the teacher and pupils 
of District No. 4 of Ionia township, for their beautiful floral gifts.  We 
again thank all from the bottom of our hearts.
