Howlett, who has been in very poor health all winter, died at his home on Jordan Lake Avenue, on Saturday evening at about midnight. Deceased was born in England on July 14, 1834. When two years of age he came to America with his parents, settling in Vermont. At the age of 20 he came to Michigan and soon thereafter was married to Elizabeth Olmstead. After living in Kalamazoo county for three years, the family moved to Ionia county, where they have lived 43 years. To Mr. and Mrs. Howlett were born eight children, two sons and six daughters, all of whom are living. Mr. Howlett had an extensive acquaintance in the country where he had lived so long, but since his coming to town almost a year ago, his health has been so poor that he has not been able to be out much, and consequently has but a slight acquaintance here. The funeral was held from the U.B. church yesterday afternoon, the services conducted by Rev. Durler, and the remains interred in Lakeside cemetery, a large concourse being in attendance at the last sad rites.
