She was married to Edward R. Howlett at Augusta, Kalamazoo Co., Mich. Dec. 17, 1855. To this union were born eight children, all of whom survive her. They are George Howlett, Hygeine, Col., Herbert, Marion, Mich., Mrs. C. J. Bretz, Albion, Mesdames F. W. Compton, J. W. George, John Drake, Walter Post and George Richards of Odessa. The deceased had been a resident of Ionia county for 32 years, the greater part of which was upon the farm five miles northwest of this village, and moved to the village three years ago. The husband preceded her to the spirit world over two years. Mrs. Howlett was converted about 35 years ago and was an earnest follower of her Savior to the end. She was a member of the U. B. church and the funeral was held from that church yesterday afternoon at 2 o’clock. The services were conducted by Rev. Wm. Olmstead of Chicago, a nephew of the deceased who was assisted by Rev. Scouten. Interment was made in Lakeside cemetery.
