Hugh T. Howorth, 83, of 512 West Washington street, died early Friday 
afternoon at Ionia County Memorial Hospital where he was a patient about 
nine hours.

He was born at Palo, August 30, 1879, the son of Harvey H. and Adelt Corey 
Howorth. He was married in Lansing in 1913 to Pearl V. Ward and later moved 
to Ionia and had resided at the present home the past 24 years.

Mr. Howorth retired from Michigan Reformatory in 1950.

He was a member of First Methodist church, Queen Esther Chapter of Order of 
Easter Star, and was a life member of Lansing F&Am lodge.

He is survived by his wife Pearl; two sons, Edward Howorth of Lansing and 
Robert of Cincinnati, Ohio; four grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Clare 
Wright of Palo.

Funeral service will be Monday at 2 pm. at Stone Kauffman funeral home with 
the Rev. Harold A. Jayne officiating. Burial will be at Palo cemetery.
