March 23, 1944 George C. Hoxie, 74, lifelong resident of Easton township, died suddenly at his farm home Thursday morning at 11:00 o'clock. He had been in failing health the past two years, but had been doing odd chores during the forenoon. Prayer service will be conducted at the Myers funeral home Saturday at 2:00 o'clock followed by funeral services at 2:30 at the Free Methodist church. Burial will be in Easton cemetery of which he had been sexton for four years until retirement a few years ago. Born on a farm in Easton township July 25, 1870, Mr. Hoxie had spent most of his lifetime in the vicinity. He is survived by his wife, Bertha; six children: Mrs. Ethel Schoen, Grand Rapids;Clark M. Hoxie, Berlin township; Harold Hoxie, Greenville; Howard Hoxie, Ionia; Mrs. Audry McCustin, Easton; Mrs. Marin Tyler, Easton. He also leaves a brother, Fred Hoxie of Saranac: 21 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
