Hoxie, 81, of Belding, passed away Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at his home. Richard was born Dec. 22, 1923, in Belding, the son of Clark and Mildred Johnson Hoxie. He graduated from Belding High School with the class of 1943 and was a World War II veteran of the United States Army. He worked at Extruded Metals in Belding, where he retired after many years of service as a die repairman. He was a member of Orleans Bible Church. Richard was married Sept. 25, 1948, in Fenwick, to Mary L. Loper. He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, David Spencer. He is survived by his wife, Mary; their children, Josolyn “Joe” and Tom Broughton of Grand Rapids, Randy and Ruth Hoxie of British Columbia, Canada, Jeanice and Jim Breimayer of Saranac; nine grandchildren and six great- grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Delbert Spencer of Holt; and brother, Albert Towne of Alma. Funeral and committal services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, with Pastor Mark Van Kleeck of Orleans Bible Church officiating. Interment is in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Visitation is 2 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Orleans Bible Church or the Belding Library.
