Hoy, 72, of 4700 North Jefferson, Ionia, died at his residence last Thursday evening. He was born in Bushnell Township, Montcalm County, Dec. 3,? 1909, the son of Walter and Cora Staines Hoy. He was married to Edith Thomas in 1943 and they made their home in Fenwick until moving to the Ionia area in 1966. He worked as a farmer, was employed by the Carnation Co. Sheridan, from 1943 to 1947, and began work for Ionia Manufacturing Co. in 1953, retiring from its successor, General Tire, in 1971. He is survived by his wife, three sons, Robert of Fenwick, David of Orleans, and Kenneth at home, two daughters, Mrs. Harry (Peggy) Lehman of rural Ionia, and Betty Hoy of Muir, 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be Monday at 1 p.m. from the Leddick Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kenneth Harger of Shiloh Community Church officiating. Burial will be in Sunny Hill Cemetery, north of Palo.
