He was born Oct. 28, 1947, in Benton Harbor. He was the only child of an only child. His father was William Stanley Hubbard and his Mother remains unknown. In 1953, Terry's Father died of drowning in the Grand River. His paternal grandfather Benjamin Hubbard and step grandmother Corda, legally adopted Terry making their home in East Lansing. In 1956 his grandfather passed away. Terry and his step-grandmother relocated to northwest Lansing. She passed away in 1961. After that Terry came to Ionia County and lived with the Hathaways, Dewitts and other foster families. He graduated from Ionia High School in 1966 and following in his father's footsteps enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Terry served from 1966 until his honorable discharge in 1970. He lived in various places including Florida, New York, California and finally Michigan. Terry hitchhiked with his dog Thaddeus from California to Michigan in 1972. He obtained his Associate's Degree in Automotive Technology at Lansing Community College and also Master Mechanic certification from State of Michigan. He worked for several car dealerships, including Tom Carter, Caswell's and Bergers. He played in bowling leagues in Grand Rapids, Lansing and Ionia. He was active in T-Ball, little league, and was instrumental in reactivating the Cub Scout Pack at Jefferson Elementary School. Terry is survived by his sons Benjamin and Kenneth Hubbard and daughter Gwen Champlin, all of Ionia. He will be sadly missed by grandchildren Havily, MJ, Faraiya, Aliya, Myah and Ivy; special cousins Karon Milliken of Lyons and Connie Skinner of Portland; and the Mother of his children, Karen of St. Ignace. Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at Belding Assembly of God Church with Pastor Flores officiating.
