Feb. 8, 2017 KENNETH HUBBARD 1927 - 2017 Kenneth E. Hubbard, aged 89 of Ionia formerly of Saranac, passed away Feb. 4, 2017 peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. He was born Aug. 30, 1927 in Keene Township, the son of Walter and Orpha M. (Gilliland) Hubbard. Ken married Pauline O'Mara in lake Odessa. He worked for Big L. until retiring n 1989. Ken served in the Army following World war II. Was a founding member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Saranac, as well as a member of Knight of Columbus in Saranac. He was a member and past Post Commander at the Saranac American legion and was a member of the Legion Color Guard that marched for President Lyndon Johnson's inauguration. Ken served on the Saranac Village council and was a member of the American Red Cross and the Boston Township Historical Society. Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Pauline "Peg" Hubbard of Ionia; children, Gary (Brenda)Hubbard of Saranac, Judy (Joe) Stuck of Saranac, Marilyn (Ross) Walhout of Grand Haven, John (Cathy) Hubbard of Jenison and Diane (Scott) Boeskool of Belmont; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; brother-in- law Eugene O'Mara of Lake Odessa; and sister-in-law Rosemary Hickey of Lake Odessa, Gloria Hubbard of Saranac and Ruth O'Mara of Lake Odessa. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Auburn and Dean, and sister Kathryn Dodds. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Saranac with Father Aaron ferris presiding Visitation will be at the Lake Funeral Home in Ionia on Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with a scripture service at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Great lakes hospice or the Saranac Public Library.
