Ionia Sentinel Standard, 1 Apr 1978

Orpha Gilliland Hubbard, 84, of Saranac, died Friday morning at Belding
Community hospital.  She was born September 30, 1893 in Lake Odessa, the
daughter of Breck and Maria Bever Gilliland.  

She married Walter Hubbard February 1, 1915 and he preceded her in death in
1969.  The Hubbards owned and operated a farm north of Saranac until 1949.

Survivors include three sons, Auburn and Kenneth of Saranac and Dean of
Schoolcraft, one daughter, Kathryn Dodds of Grand Rapids, one sister, Fern
Cunnings of Grand Rapids, a sister-in-law Edna Hubbard of Clarksville, 10
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services are Monday at 1 p.m. from the Roetman-Lake funeral home with Rev. Edwin
Mendenhall officiating.  Burial is in Saranac cemetery.  The family will receive
friends and relatives at the funeral home Saturday 7 to 8:30 p.m. and Sunday 2
to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m.  A memorial fund is established for Mill Creek Meadows.
