Hubbell, 94, of Ionia, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Monday, March 29, 2010. He was born on Sept. 2, 1915, in Muskegon, the son of Winfield and Jeanette (Kocher) Hubbell. Mr. Hubbell was a Veteran of World War II serving as a Staff Sgt. in the Army Air Force, 333rd Bombardment Group. He was also a past commander of the Ionia County Council of the VFW, and was a member of the Portland American Legion Post, the Ionia VFW Post, and the D.A.V. in Palm Bay, Fla. He was also a former member of the Portland United Methodist Church and a current member of the First Christian Church of Ionia. He worked for many years as a bookkeeper/accountant in the manufacturing industry after graduating from Davenport College. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Lora in 1986; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Ward Walter in 2006; sister, Alice Mooney in 2002. Surviving are his wife, Rose Ella Hubbell; son William (Evelyn) Hubbell of Lansing; two step sons, Paul (Jean) Barker of Ionia and Dean (Mary) Barker of Lyons; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. The Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at the First Christian Church of Ionia with Pastor Armand Aronson, Presiding. Military Honors will be provided by the Ionia VFW Post #12082. Private interment will take place at Newaygo Cemetery in Newaygo. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church of Ionia Window Repair Fund, in memory of Winfield “Win” H.
