Hubbell occurred at about midnight last night at his residence on East Washington street. His death was sudden as he was sick only about three-quarters of an hour. Heart failure was the cause. Mr. Hubbell has not been in the best of health but there has been no reason to expect his death. Last night when he retired he was as well as usual. Mrs. Hubbell was awakened about twelve o’clock by peculiar sounds coming from Mr. Hubbell’s room and found him unable to talk. He was able to get into a large chair and was seated therein when he died less than an hour later. The members of the family and the doctor were summoned but nothing could be done. Mr. Hubbell was 78 years of age and has long been a resident of Ionia. He was born December 17, 1830, at Otsego, N.Y. Besides the widow, two children survive. They are Mrs. Amanda Preston and Don Hubbell, of this city. Mrs. Eva Dye, an adopted child is also living. The funeral will be attended Saturday afternoon. Rev. Moore will officiate and interment will be in Highland Park. [Transcriber's Note: There is a notation on the obituary card that he was actually buried in Oak Hill Cemetery.] File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/ionia/obits/h/hubbell2673nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/mifiles/ File size: 1.6 Kb
