Hubbell Dead. Sixty Years A Respected Resident of County. Henry F. Hubbell passed away a few minutes after 11 o’clock Tuesday night. Though feeble the recent months, he was yet able to be up and about most of the time, and was down town in his buggy during the afternoon previous. At eleven o’clock he arose from his bed, feeling nervous and apprehensive, and asked the wife to send for a doctor. The aid of a physician was not needed, however, for he seated himself in a chair, and a minute later the light of his long, useful and respected life went out. It was such a death as might well be coveted – instant and painless. Deceased was born in Otsego, New York, on December 17, 1830, and came to Ionia county with his parents when but a lad of 14 years of age; at the time of his death he was therefore 78 years past. On July 4, 53 years ago, he married Caroline Nichols, at Wood’s Corners. The wife survives, as also do two children: Mrs. Amanda Preston and Don Hubbell. Mrs. Eva Dye was an adopted child, and Harry Hubbell of Ronald was also reared by the family. Two sisters also survive: Mrs. Martha M. Brooks and Mrs. Jane R. Remington. The funeral will be attended from the late home on East Washington street on Saturday afternoon.
