All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/mi/mifiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Marilyn Ransom mlnransom@chartermi.net June 16, 2010, 6:00 pm The Lake Odessa Wave, Thursday, February 24, 1938 Sarah Ann Bretz, daughter of Charles (illegible) and Elizabeth Bretz, was born December 19, 1857 at the Bretz farm homestead north of Lake Odessa. At an early age she became a member of the West Odessa United Brethren church. Her whole life has been spent in the vicinity of Lake Odessa. On May 15, 1881 she was married to George M. Huddle and they together cleared the land and built the home on the farm where she resided until her death on February 17. Her husband passed away in March 1915. Surviving her are a son Leon living on the farm, and a daughter Elsie Sweet of Lansing, three grandchildren, Roger, Helen, and Howard Sweet, one sister, Mrs. William Curtis and two brothers, Frank Bretz, Lake Odessa, and Charles W. Bretz at Manistique, Mich. Her whole life was one of service and thoughtfulness for others and she was well loved and respected. Funeral services were held at Central Methodist church at 2:00 o’clock Sunday afternoon, the Rev. Leon W. Manning, pastor, officiating, and interment was made in Lakeside cemetery. Relatives from out of town who were in attendance at the funeral were Mrs. Elsie Sweet and children from Lansing, Charles W. Bretz of Manistique, Miss Marjorie Bretz of Kalamazoo, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schreiber of Grand Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. Allison Tolles of Hastings, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Vroman of Albion, Mrs. E. Murley and Leon Kuhtz of Detroit, Mrs. Cora Kuhtz, Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Kuhtz of Ionia, and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Black of Battle Creek.
