The Ionia Standard, Friday, August 6, 1897
Silas Huested of this village became despondent over the trend of domestic 
affairs, and committed suicide last Sunday evening by taking carbolic acid.  
The deceased was a pensioner, and owned his home, which was pleasantly located 
in the central part of this village.  The funeral was held at the Disciple 
church, Wednesday, at 10 a.m., the services conducted by Rev. R. W. 
Ainsworth.  The deceased leaves a wife and five children, three of whom were 
at home.
