Bryant Huff, 74, who passed away Wednesday at 6:00 a.m. at the Ionia County Memorial hospital, at the Shaw- Rivett funeral home, at Muir. Mr. Huff underwent surgery Wednesday, June 28. He was born February 21, 1887, at Lake City, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John B. Huff. He was an entertainer on a Chatauqua circuit in the Midwest for ten years. Mr. Huff was a retired civil engineer of the Michigan Engineering Society of Detroit. He was married to Miss Helen Alger of Lyons, June 1, 1917, who passed away January 30, 1959. They had lived in Detroit but had spent week ends and vacations at their Lyons home. Mr. Huff retired in December 1958 and they came to live in their Lyons home. He was married October 7, 1959 to Mrs. Nelle Barden of Detroit, who survives him. Other survivors are a sister, Mrs. W.J. (Hester) Strane of Detroit and one brother, Douglas Huff of California; five stepdaughters, Mrs. Arnold Lind, Detroit; Mrs. Roy Hawkins, Mrs. Herman Frankel, Birmingham; Mrs. Paul Segura, Miami, Fla.; Mrs. Andrew Johnson, Las Vegas, Nev.; 17 step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. Mr. Huff was a past worshipful master and life member of Palestine lodge 357, F&AM of Detroit and was a member of Palestine male quartette, for 34 years. He was a past high priest of the Royal Arch Masons of Detroit, a 32nd degree mason, past eminent commander and life member of Demascus Commandery in Detroit; executive secretary of Palestine lodge for 34 years, member of Ancient Accepted Scottish rites of Freemasonry, Valley of Detroit Consistory. The Rev. Elmer Ubbink, of Lyons, officiated. Burial was in the Lyons cemetery and members of Palestine lodge of Detroit had charge of the ritualistic services at the graveside.
