All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/mi/mifiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Maureen Cross mcross3454@gmail.com July 14, 2022, 3:37 pm Lake Odessa Wave - March 2, 1950 COURT HUGGINS FOUND DEAD AT HIS HOME Court Huggins, 76, apiarist, living alone at hi farm home northeast of town, was found dead Friday afternoon by Vernon Koutz and Ira Curtis when they went to his home to investigate when he failed to attend an Odd Fellow meeting Thursday night and to answer his hone. On entering the home they found lights still burning and his frozen body on the floor. Deputy Richard Bartlett and Coroner Dale Kaufman of Ionia was called and coroner stated death was caused from a heart attack and he had been dead about thirty-six hours when found. He had resided in this vicinity for twenty-five years or more. He was a member of both Rebekah and Odd Fellow lodges. Surviving are a sister Mrs. Ilene B. Alcorn, a niece Mrs. Clara White, both of Amboy, Ill. and another niece Mrs. Walter Mattern of Kenosha, Wis. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Pickens chapel with burial in Lakeside cemetery with Rev. Vernon Macy officiating. Funeral services were held under the auspices of the Oddfellow lodge.
