She was born on Aug. 25, 1951, in Ionia, Michigan, the daughter of Henry and Dolores (Hampshire) Visser. Jule enjoyed many hobbies but the think that she enjoyed the most were her grandchildren. She loved them so much that she was like a second mother to all of her grandchildren. She loved watching her grandchildren play all the sports that they enjoyed playing. She was their biggest fan. She was especially excited and proud watching one of her grandchildren play in the State Championship Football game for the Portland Raiders. Jule also enjoyed needlepoint and made each of her grandchildren their own blanket. She enjoyed working in her flowerbeds even though they were getting harder for her to do she would still be out there every summer. She also enjoyed putting together puzzles, playing cards and board games with her family. Preceding her in death were her parents, Dolores and Henry Visser and her father-in-law Gerald E. Huhn. Surviving are her husband of 44 years Melvin H. Huhn; daughters Melissa and John Brandt, Amanda and George Rowe; grandchildren Auston and Haydin Brandt, Lauren, Brady and Evan Rowe (all of Portland; sisters, Lorie and Randy Hummel of Clarksville, and Tina and Charles Larsen of Saranac; brother Allan and Lori Visser of Saranac; 13 brother and sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan, 29, 2015, at Lehman Funeral Homes, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland, with Pastor Steve Burkhart presiding. Interment will follow at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
