Ionia Sentinel Standard, 9 Aug 1975

John Huizenga, 83, of Keefer highway, Portland, died Thursday evening at a
Portland convalescent home.  He was born April 28, 1892, in Holland, the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Luert Huizenga.  His wife, Ida, died in 1972.  He was a member of
the Portland Christian Reformed church and the Farm Bureau.

Among his survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Jean Baker of Lansing, and Frieda
Huizenga of Lake Odessa; three grandchildren; three brothers, Bert and Fred of
Grand Rapids, and Cornelius of Hudsonville; sister, Grace Huizenga of Ionia.

Funeral will be Monday at 1:30 pm at the Neller funeral home at Portland.  Rev.
Sherwin VanKlompenberg, of the Portland Reformed church, will officiate and
interment will be at the Portland cemetery.  Bearers will be Floyd Evans,
Melburn Sandborn, Carl Rischaw, Alfred Brandson, Gerald Stoel and Calvin Hoort.
