Lillian A. (Ries) Huizenga, 85, of Greenville, passed away Sunday, January 25, 
2004 at Metron of Greenville with her family at her side.  She was born July 
13, 1918 in Altona, the daughter of Morris and Edna (Rathburn) Ward.  Mrs. 
Huizenga was a resident of Sheridan since 1998, formerly of Bostwick Lake.  
She retired from the Chrysler Trim Plant in Lyons in 1978.

She is survived by one son, Steven and Kathy Ries of Stanton; three 
grandchildren, Shelly and Dennis Brya of Charlevoix, Sarah and Brady Petersen 
of Charlevoix, Kate and Tony Sanders of Stanton; and five great grandchildren, 
Keisha Ries, Brooke Ries, Morgan Sanders, Andrew Sanders and Ava Petersen; two 
brothers, Kenneth Ward of Portland, and Lewis and Sondra Ward of Saranac, in 
addition to several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Hubert Ries on October 17, 
1975; her second husband, Russell Huizenga on June 18, 1998; a daughter, Sally 
Jo Ries on March 10, 1950; a granddaughter, Tracy Ries on August 28, 1983; a 
sister, Mildred Jewel; plus her parents and stepfather, Olin Smith.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Simpson Family Funeral 
Home, Sheridan, with Pastor Kendall Harger of Shiloh Community Church 
officiating.  Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral 
home.  Interment at Balcom Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to 
Hospice of Michigan.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
