January 22, 2022 HULL Richard Gordon Hull, born March 24, 1938 and passed peacefully to his home on January 17, 2022. Rich was born on Clyde Road in Ionia to frank Millard Hull and Florence Myrtle Jane. He served in the U.S. Navy right out of high school from 1956 to 1960, spending two years at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and on board the USS Saratoga. Rich married the love of his life Janet Pacholke on January 9, 1960 in Flint. Rich worked and attended Michigan state University. After he received an Associate degree, he and Jan settled in Ionia and raised 3 children. He went to work for the Michigan Department of Corrections and retired after 25 years as a Lieutenant.The next 31 years, Rich worked hard at retirement with part time jobs (John Deere), traveling, woodworking, camping, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family. Rich loved his life and knew exactly where he was headed after this life was finished. Rich is survived by his wife of 62 years Jan, whom he adored. His children' Kathy and time Pretzel of Fenwick, Wendy and Dean Humphrey of Newaygo and Rich & Rosana Hull of Auburn Hills, all of whom he was very proud. Grandchildren; Robert & Megan Purcell, Cody & Brittany Cooper, Garrett & Espie Humphrey, Connor & Tory Reavy, Jay & Sami White, Sofia Hull, Noelle Humphrey, Gabriel Hull, and Laura Hull. All of whom he loved dearly. He also had 8-great grand children who once they could walk, he took a lot of interest in. Also surviving are two brothers Robert & Joanne Hull and Harold & Julie Hull and sister Nancy & Bob Abernathy. Rich was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Florence, his wife's parents Alvin & Alvina Pacholke, brothers Don Hull and Carl Grigsby and by sisters Beatrice Hull and Dorothy Grigsby. Visitation was Thursday, January 20 at 5-8 pm at Lae Funeral Home in Ionia and Friday, January 21 from 12-2 pm at St.John Lutheran Church in Ionia with service following at 2 pm. Memorial Contributions will be given to St.John Lutheran Church, for which Rich was a member for over 56 years.
