Congress street, as the result of a car, coming in an opposite direction from that in which the young man was traveling, swerving from the other side of the highway and crashing head-on into the tractor which Hulliberger was driving. Hulliberger was a driver for the past five years in the employ of Hugh Boss, local produce broker, and left here some time during the night with a heavy truck loaded with potatoes for Detroit. State Police from the Brighton post notified Hugh Boss of the accident and Boss, accompanied by Clayton Hulliberger, father of the young man, and Don Olmstead, left immediately for the scene of the accident. The car which crashed into the vehicle which Hulliberger was driving was occupied by Arthur Meyer and wife, Margaret, of Perry, with Mrs. Meyer driving. When about 50 feet from the Boss truck the Meyer car which was on the north lane of the three lane highway, swung across the road and crashed, headon, into the Boss tractor which was in the south lane, driving itself into the windshield. The impact threw Hulliberger out of the left side of the cab, killing him instantly. Glenn Rial, Jr., aged 21, also of this city, riding with Hulliberger, was thrown out of the right door of the cab. He suffered severe bruises and was treated here at the Dr. Engemann clinic and hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Meyer were pinned in their car by the heavy trailer, which tipped over on them. The trailer contained 200 bags of potatoes and 70 bags of onions, which were taken on to Detroit with the trailer being brought back to this city. State police at the Brighton post held the tractor. Surviving in addition to the parents are four sisters: Mrs. J. O. Coy of Detroit, Mrs. Audrey Phillips of Battle Creek; Mrs. Wanda VanOcker of Greenville and Miss Waverly Hulliberger of Blanchard, and two brothers, Forest of Muskegon and William who is overseas. Bruce G. Fales, local funeral director, went to bring the body back to this city. Funeral services will be held at the Fales funeral home on Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock and burial will be in Dexter cemetery, east of Blanchard.
