Harold Emmerson Hummel, 80, of Lake Odessa passed away Wednesday, Aug. 28, 
2013. He was born Aug. 22, 1933 to Guy and Beatrice (Frey) Hummel.

Harold served in the Korean War. When he returned home he married Phyllis Greux 
from Sault Ste. Marie on April 28, 1956. Harold bought the family farm in Lake 
Odessa where they raised their family. Harold and Phyllis were married 56 
years. Harold enjoyed stock car racing, hunting, fishing and umpiring. He was 
also active in the Lake Odessa V.F.W. Post 4461.

Harold is survived by his children, Perry (Pam) of Clarksville, Jeff (Vickie) 
of Lyons, Joe of Lake Odessa, and Greg (Colleen) of Florida; special son-in-law 
Mike Daugherty of Lake Odessa; brothers Lyle (Jean) of Ionia and Don (Marion) 
of Lake Odessa; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren with one more on the 
way.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Leonard and Clifford, 
wife Phyllis and daughter Penny Daugherty.

Visitation with the family will be at the Living Gospel Church, 1600 Rochester 
St., Lake Odessa on Saturday, Sept. 7 from 12 to 2 p.m. with a memorial service 
at 2 p.m. Luncheon to follow at the church.
