Lake Odessa Wave-Times - Friday, March 1, 1912

Sarah Ellen Price was born in Rockingham county, Virginia, April 25, 1848, and 
departed this life Feb. 23, 1912, aged 63 years, nine months and 29 days. At 
the age of four years she moved with her parents to Seneca county, Ohio, where 
she lived until 1866. In 1867 she was united in marriage to Jacob J. Hummel; to 
this union nine children were born, George W.; Thomas, William, Charlie E., 
Minnie E., now Mrs. Marion Franks, Jacob, Jerry, Lizzie, now Mrs. Porter 
Stairs, and Marion, all of whom survive her except two sons, William dying at 
the age of 7 years and Jacob dying about a year ago, and her husband who died 
June 28, 1909.

In the year 1881 she with her husband and children moved to Odessa township 
where she lived until the fall of 1907 when they moved to Sebewa township where 
she lived at the time of her death. She was a firm believer in the religion of 
Jesus Christ always attending church whenever it was passible for her to do so. 
She was the daughter of David Price being one of the 12 children all of whom 
are dead except two sisters; she leaves to mourn her loss five sons, two 
daughters, 19 grandchildren, two sisters and a host of relatives and friends; 
her one son Thomas lives at Rhinelander, Wis.

We wish hereby to thank all the friends and neighbors for their kindness and 
sympathy at the death and burial of our beloved mother and to all those who 
sent flowers and to the singers and the Minister are we thankful.
