Lake Odessa Wave-Thursday July 31, 1947

Fred Hummel Died Tuesday Morning

Fred Hummel, 71, died early Tuesday morning at his home at the corner of Tupper 
Lake street and Pearl street after a long illness of heart trouble. He had been 
a resident here for many years, and was employed at the Lake Odessa Canning Co. 
Plant for a number of years until ill health compelled his retirement.

Surviving are his widow, Frieda, a daughter Mrs. Lee Simons at Battle creek, a 
son Rodell Runyan, two sisters, Mrs. Ella Cave and Miss Anna Hummel, one brother 
James at Nashville, three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at the Pickens funeral Chapel this afternoon with the 
Rev. E. Augustus Shull officiating. Burial was at Lakeside cemetery.
