FUNERAL, TUESDAY. ---------- John Hummel, a resident of this locality all his life, died Sunday at the home of his son Rollo in St. Joseph where he hd been spending several weeks with his son and his daughter, Mrs. Katherine Ruhno. He was 86 years of age. Mr. Hummel was one of the first business men of Lake odessa, helping to found the village in 1887 when he set up a saw mill. He also conducted a threshing outfit. His wife was Miss Katherine Price. She died in 1922. Mr. Hummel usually enjoyed good health and was only confined to his bed a week. He leaves two daughters Mrs. Katherine Ruhno of St. Joseph and Mrs. Herman Buche of Odessa, and his son Rollo of St. Joseph. The funeral was held at the home here Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Leon W. Manning officiated with Mrs. Manning and Mrs. W. C. McCartney furnishing the music. Burial was at Lakeside cemetery.
