Ionia Sentinel Standard, 16 Sep 1968

R. George Humphrey of 315 Harter died Saturday evening.  He was born in Gratiot 
county, June 28, 1881, the son of Richard and Ellen Humphrey.  He moved with 
his parents to Ithaca where he received his education.  At the age of 18 he 
came to Ionia? where he worked for Hampton Rich in the grocery store and at the 
time of Mr. Rich’s death he purchased the store and operated it many years.

June 28, 1904 he was married to Ethel L. Conklin.  Survivors include his wife 
Ethel; one daughter, Mrs. Blaine Humphrey, two grandchildren of Lansing; five 
sisters and one brother.

Mr. Humphrey was a member of the Methodist church, veteran member of Odd Fellow 
lodge and veteran member of Beatrice Rebekah lodge.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Stone-Kauffman funeral home.  
Rev. Lester C. Bailey will officiate and burial will be at Orleans cemetery.
