Ionia Daily Sentinel - 24 April 1976
Mrs. Bertha B. Humphrey, 85, of Battle Creek died early Saturday morning at a 
nursing home there after being a patient for the past seven weeks.  She was 
born in Ionia September 27, 1890, the daughter of John and Elisabeth Heinz 
Burke.  She attended Ionia schools and married Thomas Humphrey.  They made 
their home in Ionia and later moved to Detroit.  After his death, she made her 
home with a sister in Battle Creek.

Surviving are one son, Robert, of Chicago, Ill.; one daughter, Mrs. John Marron 
of Chatsworth, Cal.; eight grandchildren; one brother, Harry Burke of Ionia; 
and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Vreeland of Battle Creek.  One brother and two 
sisters preceded her in death.  Services will be Tuesday at 10 am at the SS 
Peter and Paul church in Ionia.  Rev. Mark VanGorp will officiate.  Interment 
will be at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. 

The body is at the Leddick funeral home where parish rosary will be recited 
Monday at 8 pm.  The Family will be at the funeral home Sunday and Monday 
afternoons form 2-4 pm and evenings from 7-9 pm.
