Ionia Sentinel Standard, 13 Dec 1965

A former Ionia resident, George E. Humphreys, 82, of rural route DeWitt, died
Saturday evening in Sparrow hospital, Lansing.  He was born in Montcalm county
July 23, 1883, the son of James and Sara Swarthout Humphreys, and for many years
was a trainer of horses.  From 1927 until his retirement in 1936, he was
employed at Fisher Body plant.  Mr. Humphreys did custodial work at Alma 15
years before moving to DeWitt where he had resided the past five years.

He is survived by his wife, Caroline to whom he was married March 29, 1919,
nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be at Boynton funeral home at 2 p.m. Wednesday.  The Rev.
Lester C. Bailey of First Methodist church will officiate and burial will be at
Highland Park cemetery.
