Ionia Standard, 25 Jul 1890

The venerable mother of James and Charles Humphreys, died at the home of the
former son, in this city on Monday, at the age of 78 years.  Mrs. H. came to
Ionia county in 1845, and for nearly half a century, was actively identified
with its growth and changes.  In company with her husband, they settled upon a
farm in Orange, but the husband died in the short period of two years after thus
settling, and the sturdy wife has since successfully managed the family
interests.  Seven children were born unto them, but the two mentioned above
alone survive.

The funeral was from the church of SS. Peter and Paul, in this city, on
Wednesday, and was largely attended.
