He had been in ill health for two years and was a patient at the sanitarium for part of that time. He was born Feb. 21, 1902, in Odessa township where he made his life’s home. Interested in the volunteer fire department, Hunt was assistant fire chief and fire chief from 1942 until 1948 when illness forced him to resign. Mr. Hunt was a machinist by trade. He was also past president of the Alert Fire association and past grand and former secretary-treasurer of the Lake Odessa I.O.O.F. lodge. Surviving are the wife, the former Florence Shellman, of Lake Odessa; one son, Elwyn, of Lansing; two daughters, Mrs. Barbara Strong of Lake Odessa and Madeline at home; one grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Irene Floyd, of Benton Harbor; and three brothers, Glen and Roy of Milwaukee, Wis., and Edwin of LaPorte, Ind. The body rests at the family home but will be removed Saturday noon to the Pickens funeral home where funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. by the Rev. O. L. Heltzel of the Evangelical U.B. church. Interment will be in Lakeside cemetery.
