Hunt, widow of Deacon B.F. Hunt, died July 23, 1908. The subject of this sketch was born June 29, 1823 in Yates Co., New York, and there grew to womanhood. She was baptized into the fellowship of the Second Milo Baptist Church in 1843 by Rev. A.W. Sunderlin. She was united in marriage to Nicholas G. Bissell, June 7, 1846. In 1855 they moved to Michigan and there purchased 160 acres of land then a dense forest with the exception of a few acres. On August 10, 1860, Mr. Bissell passed on to the better land leaving her with three small children on the farm where she has since resided, excepting a few years. In 1872 she was united in marriage to Benjamin F. Hunt, who died April 30, 1901, since which time she has resided with her daughter. She was a pioneer member of the Baptist Church of Pewamo, having united with this church in 1860. She was always ready and willing to do what she could to help the cause she loved so much. The funeral was held at the home Sunday afternoon, July 26th. Rev. H.E. Wylie of the Methodist Church officiating, her pastor, Rev. W.R. Waters, having died suddenly with heart failure Saturday afternoon. Her remains were laid to rest in the East Plains Cemetery by the side of her first husband to wait the resurrection morn.
