Mrs. Harriet Evelyn Hunt, wife of Edson H. Hunt, died suddenly Friday morning 
at their home in Ann Arbor.  Eighty-four years ago she was born in Claredon, 
Vt., and when very young came with her parents, Nelson and Susanna White, to 
Pavalon, Kalamazoo county.  She spent her childhood there in a cabin on the 
shore of Long lake.  In 1873 she graduated from the Ypsilanti State normal, and 
for several years taught in the rural schools in Ionia county.  She was the 
founder of the South Boston select school for children who were unable to 
attend college, and at the time of her death was the president of the select 
school association.  Every year she came to South Boston to attend the school 
reunions in August.

In 1880 she was united in marriage to Edson H. Hunt of Saranac, and they lived 
on a farm just east of Saranac until 1915, when they went to Arizona to visit 
their two daughters.  Later they came back to Ann Arbor, where they had lived 
since.  While Mr. and Mrs. Hunt resided in Saranac they were active members in 
the M.E. church, Mrs. Hunt devoting a great deal of time to church work.

Surviving besides the husband are six children, John Herman of Detroit; Ormand 
D., of Ann Arbor; Don H. of Mansfield, Ohio; Miss Susanna E. Hunt, and Mrs. 
Agnes Parke, of Phoenix, Ariz. and Miss Vera Hunt, of Hartsdale, New York; 11 
grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Methodist 
church in Saranac.  Dr. Finch, of Ann Arbor, assisted by Rev. Frank Loomis, of 
Saranac, conducted the service.  Interment was at the family lot in the Saranac 
cemetery.
