She was raised on many farms in the Cannon and Grattan areas. While living in Grand Rapids with the Bottum family, she attended South High School and graduated in 1936. she loved working crossword puzzles, watching birds, playing scrabble, and tending her gardens. Some would say that there was a common thread in the Hunt family for all of them loved to play cards. A talented seamstress, she enjoyed working with the 4-H Group. Mrs. Hunt was a lady who was dedicated to her family, and in the early years she cared for her brothers and sisters. Even as Ruth aged, she still “mothered” people. Mrs. Hunt is survived by her children, Dona and Linda Hunt of Cedar Springs, Nancy and David Jensen of Cedar Springs, Dale and Sandra Hunt of Belding, Dorene Seward of Riverdale, Diane and Bernard Kauffman and John and Paula Hunt, all of Saranac; 21 grandchildren,28 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Glenn Lyons of Lowell, Mrs. Doris Geldersma of Belding, Mrs. Marjorie Harris of Belmont, and Dorothy and Lloyd “Buster” Lyons of Homosassa, FL; sister-in-laws, Mrs. Mary Lou Phillips of Rockford, and Mrs. Margaret Hunt of Sparta; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Hunt on November 2, 1989, grandsons, Daniel in May, 1996, and Chris in March, 2005, and a brother, Ormand “Bud” Lyons. The service for Mrs. Hunt will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Bostwick Lake Congregational Church, UCC with Dr. Brian Byrne officiating. Interment in Bostwick Lake Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Parkinson Disease Foundation and Hospice of MI. Friends may meet with the Hunt family from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Pederson Funeral Home, Rockford.
