Miss Melissa Marie Hunter, 4, of Ionia, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2000, at 
Ionia County Memorial Hospital.  Melissa was born Oct. 9, 1995 in Grand 
Rapids, the daughter of Michael Hunter and Candy (Moore).  She attended 
Freedom Acres, liked music and loved her great-grandmother.  She will be 
dearly missed by her family and friends.

Melissa is survived by her father, Michael Hunter of Ionia, her mother and 
step-father, Candy (Melvin) Root of Battle Creek; one half-sister, Christine 
Root; grandparents, Jim and Cherlyn Ward of Muir, Richard and Pat Hunter of 
Alabama, Donna Garcia of Virginia and Ray Hemminger of Lansing; her special 
great-grandmother, Joyce Houserman of Ionia; several aunts, uncles and 
cousins; and special neighbor, Beulah Slocum of Ionia.  She was preceded in 
death by her great-grandfather, Earl Houserman.

Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at Cook 
Funeral Home.  Funeral services for Melissa will be held 11 a.m. Friday at 
Cook Funeral Home, Rich Street Chapel, Ionia, with Pastor Kenneth Harger of 
Shiloh Community Church officiating.  Interment will be in Woodard Lake 
Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Freedom Acres.  Envelopes are 
available at the funeral home.
