April 28, 2018 CASS GORDON HUNTER January 31, 1966-April 23, 2018 On the last day of January 1966, Gordon and Margaret Hunter welcomed their much anticipated fourth child. To everyone's delight it was a boy. He was named Cass Gordon Hunter honoring many family members with the same name. He was brought home to the Saranac family farm where he joined his three big sisters, Sharon, Diane, and Michell (Shelly). Loved, doted on, dressed and diapered, he was like having a new baby doll for the three Hunter sisters. Life for Cass on the farm suited him to a T. He was surrounded by lot of family, friends and animals, with the freedom of space on the farm, he was able to enjoy a boy's dream of BB guns, his Honda 70, and traipsing around in the ponds and creeks that were his playground. He had his education in the Saranac community schools, He made many friends, but Mike Nystrom and Sean Coble were without a doubt the shinning stars for Cass. These two boys, now grown fathers them selves have remained true and faithful friends to Cass right up until his final breath. There is no way for us to express our thanks to these two men and their families. It goes beyond friendships....They were brothers. For the past two years Cass has been nearing the end of his journey here on earth because of cancer. For all the heartbreak and sadness, it has brought our family closer together. We have also received profound love and peace from being surrounded by the angels that hav cared for Cass during this time. We would like to thank Pastor Becky Poor, Heartland of Ionia, and Great Lakes Caring Hospice. A special thanks to Cass's good friends, Jenelle Sheffield and Rick Fuller. Our family extends a special thank you to the entire Nystrom family. Your love and caring of Cass cannot be measured. A summer memorial is being planned. That date will be announced at a later time. Arrangements are in care of Lake funeral Home of Saranac. those who wish, may make a memorial contribution in Cass's name to Great Lakes Caring Hospice.
