Jack L. Hunter, 87, of Ionia formerly of Lowell, passed away Friday, March 19, 
2004.  Jack was born in Grand Rapids the son of Walter (Pete) and Olive 
(Bissell) Hunter. 

He married Alice Haines April 27, 1940. Jack retired from the Ionia Post 
Office and the Hall Fowler Library. He was a veteran of WWII in New Guinea. He 
was a life member of the V.F.W. of Sheridan and a member of the Saranac 
American Legion.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alice Hunter of Ionia; daughter, 
Jacalyn and David Gilliland of Ionia; grandsons, James Hunter of Florida, 
Daniel and Jayne Hunter of Grand Rapids, Gregg and Elaine of Ionia; 
granddaughter, Sandra and Aric of Ionia; great-grandson, Zachary; great-
granddaughter, Alexis; sister-in-law, Roxie Hunter of Florida.  He was 
preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bill.

Per Jack's request there will be no visitation or funeral services. Cremation 
has taken place and a private memorial will be held at a later date. Interment 
at Oakwood Cemetery in Lowell. Arrangements by Lake Funeral Home of Ionia.
