The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Tuesday, December 31, 1940
Mrs. Alva R. Hunter, 83, a former resident of Saranac, died at the home of Mr. 
and Mrs. Norman Price of Grand Rapids Monday afternoon, December 30, at 12:30 
o’clock.  She was born in April 1857, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy 
Strong.  Since the death of her husband, LeRoy C. Hunter, who died 26 years 
ago, Mrs. Hunter had made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Norman Price.  Mrs. Price 
is an adopted daughter.  Mrs. Hunter had been in poor health for the past year.

The funeral will be held at 2:30 o’clock Wednesday afternoon from the Greenhoe 
funeral chapel, Grand Rapids, with interment in Saranac cemetery.  Among the 
survivors is a niece, Dr. Bess Strong of Ionia.
