He was born July 13, 1927, in Ionia, the son of Clayton and Jennie (Waters) Huntley. James married Donna Larsen Sept. 25, 1954, in Ionia. She preceded him in death Oct. 9, 2008. He was a World War II and Korean War veteran of the Army Air Corps. He was a mail carrier on Route 3 in the Ionia Area for 35 years. He received a driving excellence award. James was a member of Ionia Hunting and Fishing Club, Pistol Club and Western Michigan NRA. He was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout Troop Leader and he loved to travel. James is survived by his son, Martin (Candace) Huntley of Sheridan, Scott (Sheila) Huntley of Tennessee and Steve (Cathy) Huntley of Grand Rapids; brother-in-law, Victor (Sharon) Larsen of Ionia; sisters-in-law, Bea (Dale) Hauter of Saranac and Dixie Larsen of Saranac; grandchildren, Casie Huntley, Amanda Huntley, Monica Huntley, Chad Huntley, Amy Huntley and Bryan Huntley; and one great grandson, Addison Sandusky. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Easton United Methodist Church with Pastor Nancy Patera and Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating. Interment East Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia.
