D. Huntley were brought here Monday afternoon from Grand Rapids for burial in the West Side cemetery. He was born in Seneca county, N. Y., and died February 18, 1916, at the age of 81 years. He came here with his family and lived in Hubbardston many years. After the death of his wife and the destruction of his home here by fire he spent most of his time in the soldiers’ home in Grand Rapids. He had been failing for some time and had been in the hospital department of this institution for the past three months and until his death. He enlisted in the New York light artillery and served three years, being honorably discharged at the close of the war. He was a member of the G. A. R. and Masonic lodge here for many years. The remains were taken to the G. A.R. hall, where friends assembled, and a funeral service was conducted by Rev. W. S. Phillips. Two daughters, Mrs. May Grant of Vicksburg, Mich., and Mrs. Effie Munce of Chicago, survive him. Mrs. Munce, Mrs. Grant, and a grandson, Herbert Steele of Detroit, accompanied the remains here.
