Sentinel-Standard - Tuesday, May 29, 1945

Mrs. Bessie I. Huntley, 320 Bliss street, died Monday, May 28, at the Sheridan 
Community hospital where she had been a patient for two weeks.

Mrs. Huntley was born July 1, 1881 at Mason, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. 
George W. Gates. She was married December 30, 1903 to Lewis M. Huntley at 
Harvard, Ill. They lived in Wisconsin for a time and in 1912 came to Ionia. She 
was a member of the Church of Christ.

Surviving Mrs. Huntley are her husband, Lewis H. Huntley; a son, Clayton L. 
Huntley, of Ionia; a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Sorenson, of Wabasso, Florida; 
three sisters, Mrs. Harvey Beckhorn of Ionia, Mrs. Ernest Franks of North 
Plains and Mrs. Jessie Coulson of Kalamazoo; three brothers, John W. Gates of 
Ionia, William G. Gates of Clinton, Iowa, and Elias Gates of Missouri, and two 
grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 31, at 2 p.m. at the Stone funeral 
home. The Rev. Wayne Davis of the Church of Christ will officiate. Interment 
will be at Highland Park cemetery.
