W. W. Hurd at Lyons Friday afternoon. His death was a shock to many of his friends in this city who were not acquainted with his critical condition. Mr. Hurd had been suffering with throat trouble for some time and was receiving treatment in a sanitarium near Kalamazoo when death came. Rev. and Mrs. Hurd were located at Three Oaks and she will continue the ministry there for the remainder of the year. They left the Belding Methodist church in 1926 after serving here several years. They have a host of friends in this city who sympathize with Mrs. Hurd. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Lyons, a former pastorate and also the home of Mrs. Hurd’s mother, Mrs. S. H. Wright. Those to attend from here were Rev. Wm. Blanding, Mrs. J. O. Randall, Byron Moore, Mrs. Earl Doty, Mrs. Elmer Harrington, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cornell, Mrs. Charles Hollenbeck, Ralph Kidd and Donald Cornell. Rev. James Bowber of Mason, the young man who Mr. and Mrs. Hurd assisted through college, preached the funeral sermon.
