Ionia Sentinel Standard, 6 Aug 1973

State police were called Saturday at 10:30 a.m. when Donald H. Hurlbert, 45, was
found dead in a field on his Russell road, Lake Odessa farm by a stepson.  State
police relayed the call to Deputy medical Examiner Richard Hull who ruled death
due to a self-inflicted rifle wound to the right side of the head at
approximately 1:15 a.m. Saturday.

Mr. Hurlbert was born in Kalamazoo, December 10, 1928, the son of Ray and Ruth
Matherson Hurlbert.  June 23, 1973, he was married to Lillian Russell of Lake
Odessa and she survives.  Other survivors are two step-sons, Albert and Dennis
Russell of Lake Odessa.

Funeral and committal services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Pickens-Koops
funeral chapel in Lake Odessa.  Rev. Howard VugteVeen will officiate and
interment will be at Lakeside cemetery.
