Husted, 51, of 4411 Johnson, Palo, died Sunday at Sparrow hospital in Lansing of an apparent heart attack and was followed in death by her husband, Richard J., Tuesday morning. Born in Bushnell township March 4, 1925, she was the daughter of Ray and Iva Thomas and was married to Richard J. Husted, April 22, 1945, in Ionia. He died April 5, 1976. Surviving are two sons, Corporal Thomas R. Husted with the army in Germany, George E. Husted of Palo; three daughters, Mrs. Vicki Wright, Mrs. Maxine Roberts and Sandra Husted, all of Ionia; eight grandchildren; brother, Norman Thomas of Philadelphia, Pa.; four sisters, Mrs. Leona Linder of Lyons, Mrs. Jean O'Connell of Ionia, Mrs. Faye Westbrook of Lansing, and Mrs. Geraldine Cleary of Watervliet. She was a member of the Palo United Methodist church, WTCU of Palo and The Good Fellowship class. Richard J. Husted, 46, of 4411 Johnson, Palo, husband of Mrs. Helen M. Husted, died Tuesday morning at his home of an apparent heart attack. Born May 8, 1929, at Ludington, he was the son of George and Violet Husted. He was a veteran of the army serving in the Korean conflict as operating engineer. He was married April 22, 1945, to Helen Thomas and she preceded him in death April 4. He was a member of the Palo United Methodist church and the Palo lodge F&AM. Besides his children and grandchildren he leaves a brother, Joseph Husted of Ludington; five sisters, Mrs. Luella Wanderer of Scottville, Mrs. Mary Richards of Whitehall, Mrs. Gertrude Mocek of Dearborn, Mrs. Ada Hamilton of Ludington and Mrs Marguerite Hansen of Puyallup, Wash. Double services will be Thursday at 2 pm at the Stebbins-Simpson funeral home in Sheridan. Rev. John Gurney will officiate and interment will be at the Palo cemetery. Family members will be at the funeral home Tuesday and Wednesday from to 8:30 pm. A memorial has been established for the Palo United Methodist church.
